Come and join on our monthly walk in Centennial Park. The last one before daylight savings ends!
“Forest Bathing” is the literal translation of the Japanese term "shinrin yoku". It has nothing to do with taking a bath or shower in the woods. It is a mindful, sensory immersion in nature and standard preventative medicine in Japan. Slow walking and reconnecting to our senses is calming and soothing to the nervous system and can help boost your immune system.
During this walk you'll be guided through sensory awareness invitations that simultaneously restore and awaken the body and mind. Nature opens the door to the "calm alert" state prized by meditators, naturally. We'll start with some guided meditation and slow wandering, move through some sensory awareness expanding practices and end with a bush tea ceremony in the Pine Forest.
At various points throughout our walk we practice the Way of Council. This is a heartfelt sharing of experience and whatever is arising, an opportunity to witness and be heard without judgement. Not the conventional way of conversing in our modern culture, this powerful way of connecting in community is often the medicine we need.
